David Cook Sworn In as 43rd Secretary of the Georgia State Senate

ATLANTA (July 2, 2013) – David Cook, the former Commissioner of Community Health under Governor Nathan Deal, was sworn in this afternoon as the 43rd Secretary of the Georgia State Senate. Cook was appointed in early May to the position by Senate President Pro Tempore David Shafer (R – Duluth) after an extensive search process. He succeeds the now-retired Bob Ewing. Joint Agriculture Committee Members Meet with Newly Appointed UGA President Jere Morehead

ATHENS, Ga. Statement from Sen. William Ligon on Resolution Opposing Common Core Standards

ATLANTA (June 24, 2013) – Senator William Ligon (R-Brunswick) provides the following statement on the unanimous vote taken by the State Committee of the Georgia Republican Party passing the resolution opposing the “nationalized” Common Core Standards and the aligned PARCC tests.
