Laurens Added to the List of Georgia Counties Approved for Individual Assistance

ATLANTA (October 26, 2018)  |  Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry) announced today that President Donald J. Trump has extended federal individual assistance to those in Laurens County who sustained losses from Hurricane Michael. This brings the total number of Georgia counties approved for individual assistance to 20.

“I am very thankful for the President’s diligence in providing aid to those affected by Hurricane Michael,” said Sen. Walker. “This once-in-a-lifetime storm has been devastating to those across south and middle Georgia, impacting infrastructure, businesses and homes, and agriculture alike. And though our state’s losses total in the billions, I am truly touched and encouraged by the generosity of folks who have volunteered their time to helping their fellow Georgians. It will take months for us to recover, but I believe the aid the federal government is providing, as well as the special legislative session called by Gov. Nathan Deal, will help citizens move past this difficult time and come back stronger than they were before.”

Residents and business owners who sustained losses in Laurens County and other individual assistance designated counties can begin applying for assistance online here or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
