ATLANTA – On Tuesday, Governor Brian P. Kemp signed Senate Bill 333, legislation that would authorize a local referendum for the creation of the city of Mulberry in Gwinnett County.
“I am very pleased that the governor signed SB 333,” said Leader Efstration. “This is an exciting opportunity for residents in northeast Gwinnett to gain local control over planning and zoning decisions without imposing a city property tax. As a resident of this proposed city, I have been an enthusiastic supporter of the cityhood effort and plan to remain involved in expressing support for Mulberry when it appears on the ballot.”
“I am grateful to see this vital piece of legislation swiftly cross the finish line,” said Sen. Clint Dixon (R-Gwinnett). “SB 333 will greatly impact my constituents of the 45th Senate District, who have been negatively affected by zoning issues in our area. I am confident that the incorporation of the City of Mulberry will return power and local control to the citizens of Gwinnett County. Again, I would like to extend my thanks to House Majority Leader Chuck Efstration (R–Auburn) for his continuous support and work on this measure. I look forward to putting this initiative before my constituents in the coming months.”
