Georgia Piedmont Technical College Breaks Ground on Regional Transportation Training Center

ATLANTA (August 31, 2023) | Yesterday, Senator Emanuel Jones (D – Decatur) joined Georgia Piedmont Technical College faculty and staff in breaking ground on the new Regional Transportation Training Center (RTTC) located in Stonecrest, Georgia.

“Stonecrest is proud to welcome the state-of-the-art Regional Transportation Training Center,” said Sen. Jones. “This cutting-edge training facility is an important step in further growing and supporting Georgia’s transportation and logistics sector. Additionally, the new RTTC will be critical in mending the worker shortages afflicting the truck driving industry. Breaking ground on the construction of this center is the culmination of many years of hard work and planning and I am eager to see this project come to fruition.”

The original $5.8 million budget for the project was allocated in the $27.2 billion FY 2022 Budget. The budget for the center has since increased to $12 million. The 28,000 square-foot facility is projected to open to students in the fall of 2024.
