Georgia Chamber Awards Sen. Mike Dugan “A+” Score for the 2017-2018 Legislative Session

ATLANTA (May 1, 2018) | Sen. Mike Dugan (R – Carrollton) received an “A+” score on the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s Scorecard. This rating was reflective of his work and support of the legislative priorities impacting increased job opportunities during the 2017-2018 legislative session.

“I’m always happy to support legislation that promotes economic growth throughout our state,” said Sen. Dugan. “Supporting businesses throughout the state helps Georgians establish and maintain jobs which in turn provides more stable living conditions. As the Chairman of the Committee for Economic Development in the Senate, improving job opportunities remains one of my highest priorities. I will continue to support legislation that allows our citizens the best chance to prosper in Georgia.”

The Georgia Chamber of Commerce sets legislative priorities prior to each legislative session and rates legislators based on their support of these issues. Priorities set for the 2017-2018 session included 12 pieces of legislation ranging from topics including health care and education to economic development. One of the 12 legislative priorities, House Bill 245, was carried in the Senate by Sen. Dugan. HB 245 allows military spouses and transitioning service members’ spouses to qualify for certificates of classification and authorization of the individual for employment in Georgia’s public schools. This bill became effective on July 1, 2017.
