ATLANTA (September 5, 2017) | Sen. Chuck Hufstetler (R – Rome) and Rep. Katie Dempsey (R – Rome) will co-host the first Joint Transparency and Open Access in Government Study Committee Meeting on Friday, September 8, 2017, at the State Capitol from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
The Joint Transparency and Open Access in Government Study Committee is a 15-member committee that was created by Senate Resolution 130, sponsored by Sen. Hufstetler and carried in the House by Rep. Dempsey. The study committee will examine the benefits of sharing data between and within government agencies to allow for more informed, educated and efficient policymaking, while reducing waste and inefficiencies.
The first meeting will review the goals and objectives of the study committee as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of collecting data. The meeting will include testimony from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Department of Corrections, Department of Public Health, the Division of Family and Children Services and Department of Human Services and others.
