ATLANTA (June 3, 2019) | Today, the United States Congress approved a $19.1 billion disaster relief bill which includes an appropriation of $3 billion for farmers who suffered crop loss from Hurricane Michael. The spending bill will address damage left from natural disasters across 12 states, Puerto Rico and the Mariana Islands.
“I commend our colleagues in congress for putting their differences aside and passing this critical bill,” said Senator Dean Burke (R – Bainbridge). “Our farmers in Georgia have suffered since last October and this funding will bring them much needed assistance so they can finally begin to pay their bills. While this funding will bring relief and start the rebuilding process, our work on behalf of our farmers will not end. I will continue to work with our leadership on the state level to assess any needs moving forward.”
