City of Montezuma to Construct Tarmac at Dr. C.P. Savage, Sr. Airport

ATLANTA (October 5, 2023) | On Tuesday, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announced plans to establish an airport contract with the city of Montezuma to construct a tarmac at the Dr. C.P. Savage, Sr. Airport.

“The development of the tarmac at Dr. C.P. Savage, Sr. Airport is poised to enhance Montezuma’s transportation infrastructure,” said Senator Ed Harbison (D – Columbus). “Thanks to the support from GDOT, Dr. C.P. Savage Sr. Airport will now boast greater capacity to handle increased air traffic. GDOT’s commitment to elevating Georgia’s infrastructure is commendable, and I eagerly anticipate upcoming GDOT endeavors in the broader Macon region.”

GDOT approved the creation of the tarmac on May 23, 2022 as a part of their FY23 Airport Aid Program. The total construction cost of the project is estimated at $2,195,974.50 and will be completed by the Holt Consulting Company, LLC.
