Sen. Kim Jackson to Hold Press Conference on ‘Equal Opportunities for Girls in Sports’ Act

ATLANTA (January 30, 2025) — On Monday, February 3, Senate Minority Caucus Whip Kim Jackson (D–Stone Mountain) will hold a press conference to discuss Senate Bill 41. SB 41 would ensure that no student is excluded from participating in, treated differently from another student, or discriminated against in any interscholastic or intramural athletics offered by a local school system based on gender.

Family Holds Prayer Vigil Ahead of Criminal Hearing Against Henry County, City of Hampton Police Officers

ATLANTA (August 26, 2024) The Reverend Sen. Kim Jackson (D–Stone Mountain), along with local pastors in Henry County and the family of Fernando Rodriguez will hold a prayer vigil at 8:00 a.m. on August 28, in the McDonough Square. The vigil is being held ahead of a hearing in the criminal case against former law enforcement officers from the City of Hampton Police Department and Henry County Police Department who have been charged in connection with Mr. Rodriguez’s in-custody asphyxiation death on September 23, 2019.

ATLANTA – State Representative Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) and State Senator Kim Jackson (D-Stone Mountain) today commend Pine Lake Mayor Melanie Hammet for her years of public service and for her retirement. House Resolution 9EX was adopted by the House of Representatives on Thursday, November 30, 2023, to honor Mayor Hammet and recognize her service to the citizens of Pine Lake.
