Sen. Fran Millar to Hold First Meeting of the Senate Study Committee on Dyslexia

ATLANTA (August 7, 2018) |Sen. Fran Millar (R – Dunwoody) and members of the Senate Study Committee on Dyslexia will hold their first meeting on Friday, August 17, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in room 307 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building. During this meeting, the committee will receive presentations from experts on the background of Dyslexia, current steps and training that are in place to identify and treat Dyslexia and listen to public comment. Sen. Elena Parent to Host Georgia Peach Quilt Exhibition

ATLANTA (August 6, 2018)  |  Sen. Elena Parent (D – Atlanta) and Rep. Deborah Gonzalez (D – Athens) will host an exhibition of the Georgia Peach Quilt on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. in the Georgia Capitol Rotunda. The program will include a presentation of a resolution to Shannon Lawhon of Moms Demand Action, an organization created to raise awareness on gun safety. The organization created the Mother’s Dream Quilt Project as a commitment to making our communities safer, with the Georgia Peach Quilt being one of 17 quilts created so far. Continue reading “Sen. Horacena Tate (D – Atlanta) will host a book signing for The Lost Education of Horace Tate: Uncovering the Hidden Heroes Who Fought for Justice in Schools, by Vanessa Siddle Walker TOMORROW, Thursday, August 2, 2018, at 11:00a.m. The Lost Education of Horace Tate honors Sen. Horacena Tate’s late father’s work as a former teacher, principal and state senator.

Senator John Albers to Hold Press Conference for iPad Donations to Georgia Dept. of Veterans Service

ATLANTA (May 8, 2018)  | Senator John Albers (R – Roswell), along with U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson (R – GA), Georgia Department of Veterans Service Commissioner Mike Roby and other key stakeholders, will hold a press conference on Monday, May 14, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the South Wing of the State Capitol. During the event, iPad donations will be presented to Commissioner Roby and the department.
