ATLANTA (Jan. 21, 2010) – State Sen. Bill Heath (R-Bremen) was recently named president of the State Agriculture and Rural Leaders Association at the Legislative Chairs Summit in Orlando, Florida. He served as the vice president from 2008-2009.

WHAT: State Sen. Vincent Fort (D-Atlanta) will join the Grady Coalition, Atlanta Building Leadership for Empowerment and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees for a candlelight vigil at Emory’s Candler Road Dialysis Center. The vigil will honor the three dialysis patients that died after the Grady dialysis clinic closed and address Emory’s role in the closure.
ATLANTA, GA (Jan. 19, 2010) – The budget process began this week with Gov. Sonny Perdue (R-GA) presenting the 2010 Amended and 2011 General State budgets to the Georgia General Assembly. As an active leader of the Senate Appropriations Committee and one of three Senate Budget conferees, Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) is participating in the joint budget hearings at the Capitol this week.

WHAT: State Sen. Vincent Fort (D-Atlanta) will join community leaders to discuss their opposition to the closing of the Atlanta Crown Roads Post Office tonight at 7 p.m. at the Rosel Fann Recreation Center in Atlanta, Ga. All services provided by the Crown Roads post office will be moved to a location in Gwinnett County under a proposal by the United States Postal Service.
