Sen. Greg Dolezal Applauds Fulton County Case Dismissal

ATLANTA (December 2, 2025) — Sen. Greg Dolezal (R–Cumming) issued the following statement regarding Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee’s decision to dismiss the racketeering case brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis:

“Last Wednesday’s case dismissal confirms what Georgians have watched unfold for months: this prosecution was compromised beyond repair by the misconduct and conflicts of interest within the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

Earlier this year, I proudly co-sponsored Senate Bill 244 to ensure that when a prosecutor is disqualified for improper conduct and the case is dismissed, defendants can recover the attorney fees they never should have had to bear. Now, due to the actions of D.A. Willis, Fulton County taxpayers may be forced to cover millions of dollars in legal costs, a consequence created entirely by her own decisions.

This irresponsibility is exactly why I sponsored the resolution establishing the Senate Special Committee on Investigations. The committee was formed to examine the conduct and decision-making within the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, and last week’s ruling demonstrates why that oversight is necessary. Georgians deserve clear answers about what occurred, why these conflicts persisted and what reforms are needed to prevent similar failures in the future.

Rather than end our scrutiny, the dismissal of this case should be the beginning of real accountability. The citizens of Georgia expect integrity from those entrusted with prosecutorial power, and the Senate Special Committee on Investigations will not stop to ensure they receive nothing less.”
