ATLANTA (January 14, 2025) — Yesterday, Sen. Kim Jackson (D–Stone Mountain) was officially sworn in as the Senate Democratic Caucus Whip for the 2025-2026 Biennium., making her the first female Whip in the history of the Georgia Senate.
Sen. Jackson spoke of this honor, “Thank you to my colleagues for electing me to serve as the Senate Democratic Whip. Making history as the first woman elected to this position is truly a privilege. This milestone is a testament to our progress as a legislative body, paving the way for many more women to step into leadership positions within the Senate. I am committed to working tirelessly to support our caucus and to representing the voices and needs of all of our constituents.”
This is Sen. Jackson’s first term as Democratic Whip and third term as a Georgia State Senator, serving Georgia’s 41st Senate District, which includes portions of DeKalb County. Elected in 2020, Sen. Jackson currently serves as a member of the Senate Committees on Appropriations, Children and Families, Public Safety, Reapportionment and Redistricting, Rules and as an Ex-Officio member of the Senate Committee on Ethics.
