Sen. Emanuel Jones Celebrates Signing of Legislation to Strengthen Reckless Driving Penalties

ATLANTA (May 8, 2024) — Sen. Emanuel Jones (D–Decatur) is proud to announce the signing of Senate Bill 10 into law by Governor Brian P. Kemp, marking a significant victory in the ongoing efforts to enhance road safety across Georgia. SB 10, sponsored by Sen. Jones, establishes an offense for knowingly attending and facilitating illegal drag races while also imposing heightened penalties for reckless driving.

Expressing his elation at the signing of SB 10 into law, Sen. Jones remarked, “This landmark legislation represents a substantial step forward in our commitment to promoting road safety and protecting the lives of all Georgians. I am deeply grateful for the support of my colleagues in both chambers of the Georgia General Assembly, whose dedication and collaboration were instrumental. Drag racing should not be tolerated when it endangers the lives of our citizens, and I look forward to continuing the work of keeping our roads safe for those who travel throughout Georgia.”
