Senate to Study Occupational Diseases of Firefighters and Peace Officers

ATLANTA (March 13, 2015) | Sen. John Albers (R- Roswell) sponsored Senate Resolution 282, which passed the Senate on Friday, which creates a Joint Peace Officer and Firefighter Occupational Disease Study Committee. The committee is charged with examining the various hazards and occupational diseases that are involved when public safety personnel apply for workers’ compensation.

Georgia Senate Approves Resolution Creating the Joint Entrepreneur in Residence Study Committee

ATLANTA (March 13, 2015)  |  Sen. Judson Hill sponsored Senate Resolution 114, which creates the Joint Entrepreneur in Residence Study Committee. The study committee will focus on how the private and public sector can help develop an even more favorable environment to support inventors, entrepreneurs and investors developing early stage technology companies. The resolution was approved by the Senate on the 30th day of the 2015 legislative session.

Senate Approves Creation of Joint Coastal Greenway Study Committee

ATLANTA (March 13, 2015)  |  Sen. William Ligon (R – Brunswick) sponsored Senate Resolution 26, which was approved by the Senate on Friday, creates a joint House and Senate Coastal Greenway Study Committee to examine the proposed Coastal Georgia Greenway trail. The trail will link to the proposed East Coast Greenway trail that runs from Maine to Florida. It will connect 12 historical landmarks and a variety of green areas along the Georgia coast.

Sen. Lester Jackson Leads Passage of St. Patrick’s Day Legislation through State Senate

ATLANTA (March 5, 2014) | Yesterday, Sen. Lester Jackson (D- Savannah) led the passage of Senate Bill 103 out of the State Senate with a vote of 32-19.  SB 103 will allow Savannah to extend the St. Patrick’s Day holiday to incorporate one Sunday during the annual celebration.
