Senate Works to Preserve Integrity of Floridan Aquifer

ATLANTA (March 13, 2015)  |  Sen. William Ligon (R – Brunswick) led the passage Friday of Senate Bill 36, the Underground Water Supply Protection Act of 2015. Senate Bill 36 requires the Board of Natural resources to adopt regulations that provide for the protection and preservation of the Floridan aquifer by July 1, 2016.

Child Welfare Reform Bill Passes the Georgia State Senate

ATLANTA (March 13, 2015)  |  A bill that will reform the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and provide greater accountability in regards to child abuse records and reporting passed the Georgia State Senate today. Senate Bill 138 is strongly supported by Gov. Nathan Deal and was sponsored by Sen. Butch Miller (R – Gainesville). The bill, which creates DFCS advisory boards and establishes specific measures related to case records, passed by a vote of 41 to 3.

Sen. Hunter Hill Leads Passage of Senate Bill 63 and Senate Bill 203 on Crossover Day

ATLANTA (March 13, 2015)  |  Sen. Hunter Hill (R – Atlanta) led the passage of two bills that support the growth of small business and commemorate Georgia’s role in World War I, respectively, on Day 30 of the 2015 legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly. Senate Bill 63, also known as the “Beer Jobs” bill, passed out of the Senate by a vote of 51 to 5.  Senate Bill 203, which creates the Georgia World War I Centennial Commission, was approved by a vote of 53 to 0.

Sen. Fran Millar Welcomed Civil Air Patrol to Capitol

Fran Millar air patrolATLANTA (March 13, 2015)  |  Wednesday, Sen. Fran Millar (R – Atlanta) welcomed a number of Georgia’s Civil Air Patrol to the Senate Chamber as part of Civil Air Patrol Day at the Capitol. The Civil Air Patrol was honored with a resolution in the House and Senate chambers. Civil Air Patrol members also served as pages in both the House and the Senate.
