ATLANTA (June 26, 2017) | Sen. Renee Unterman (R – Buford) is urging U.S. Senate members Sen. Johnny Isakson (R – GA) and Sen. David Perdue (R – GA) to be cognizant of the far-reaching effects of the opioid crisis and how cuts to Medicaid could exacerbate the financial stress that opioid overdoses are putting on the emergency medical system. These cuts would affect county and private EMS, emergency rooms and treatment programs.

Renee Unterman (R – Buford), along with Superior Court Judge Kathryn Schrader, will hold a press conference to address the current opioid epidemic on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 11:00a.m. They will be joined by family members of victims who have lost their lives as a result of opioid abuse.
ATLANTA (May 15, 2017) | Sen. Renee Unterman (R – Buford), along with Superior Court Judge Kathryn Schrader, will hold a Mental Health and Substance Abuse Summit at the Gwinnett County Courthouse on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 6:00pm. They will be joined by Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Commissioner Judy Fitzgerald, collaborative stakeholders and state and local community leaders.
The purpose of the summit is to bring together mental health stakeholders to discuss community based therapy services for people in need.
