ATLANTA (August 18, 2025) — Georgia Life Sciences (GLS) recently announced Sen. Chuck Hufstetler (R–Rome) as a 2025 Golden Helix Award winner, specifically honoring him with the organization’s Legislator of the Year Award. He will be honored alongside several Golden Helix Award winners at the Georgia Life Sciences Summit on August 26 at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.
“I am honored to be recognized by Georgia Life Sciences this year. Whether in the operating room or chairing the Senate Committee on Finance, I see firsthand how science impacts Georgians daily,” said Sen. Hufstetler. “Each legislative session, I lean on my experience as a legislator and medical professional to advocate for Georgians and promote our life sciences community. Today, more than ever, this community is a driving force for better health outcomes, which build a stronger economy and way of life for future generations.”
Georgia Life Sciences’ Legislator of the Year Award annually recognizes a legislator who promotes state and federal policies that promote life sciences research, investment and innovation.
Sen. Hufstetler has dedicated much of his career to the sciences, earning multiple degrees and a certification to reflect his expertise. He has earned a Baking Science and Technology certification at the American Institute of Baking, a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology at the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in Medical Science in Anesthesiology at the Emory School of Medicine.
