ATLANTA (Jan. 13, 2010) – Last week, Gov. Sonny Perdue announced the appointment of former State Senator Brian Kemp as Secretary of State. Kemp served in the State Senate from 2002 to 2006. Sen. Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga), chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, made the following statement:
“I am thrilled to have my former colleague and good friend appointed as Secretary of State. Brian is a proven leader and successful small business owner who will be a tremendous asset in moving Georgia forward in his new role. The citizens of northwest Georgia and all across the state will benefit from his leadership.”
Kemp commented, “I greatly appreciate the Governor’s confidence and am honored to serve the people of Georgia in this vital office. I will continue the honorable tradition of leadership demonstrated by Karen Handel, Cathy Cox, Lewis Massey, and others before them. I am eager to get started and deliver for the people of Georgia.”
