Senators Watson and Mallow Express Condolences for Fallen Soldiers in Jordan

ATLANTA (Jan. 31, 2024) – Today, Sen. Ben Watson (R-Savannah) and Sen. Derek Mallow (D-Savannah) join the nation in mourning the tragic loss of three army reservists in Jordan. Among them was Specialist Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, a selfless Georgian from Savannah, who succumbed to injuries in an unmanned drone attack on their housing units.

Expressing deep sadness, Sen. Watson reflects on the loss of the three Georgians, stating, “Alongside my fellow Senator from Savannah and the entire nation, we mourn the loss of these courageous individuals. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Specialist Breonna Alexsondria Moffett from Savannah, Sergeant William Jerome Rivers from Carrollton, and Specialist Kennedy Ladon Sanders from Waycross.” Emphasizing the ultimate sacrifice, Sen. Watson adds, “There is no greater show of love for our country than laying down your life for it, and that is precisely what these three individuals did. In this difficult time, I join in prayer and mourning with the families.”

Sen. Mallow offers heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims, stating, “My heart aches for the brave soldiers who lost their lives in Jordan. Their dedication to protecting our freedom reminds us that freedom comes at a cost. We mourn their loss and stand in solidarity with their families and loved ones during this difficult time.” He continued, “One of those soldiers was Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, a Georgian and a Savannahian. Thank you, Breonna, for paying the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Let us honor not only Moffett’s — but also Rivers’ and Sanders’ sacrifices — and remember their service.”

The three Army Reservists were killed in an unmanned aerial drone attack on the living quarters at a base in northeast Jordan on Sunday, Jan. 29th. The U.S. Department of Defense is currently investigating the attack.
