Senator Zahra Karinshak Sworn into Office

ATLANTA (January 16, 2019) |Monday, Senator Zahra Karinshak (D – Duluth) took her oath of office administered by Supreme Court Justice Charles Bethel. Sen. Karinshak represents Georgia’s 48th Senate District which includes Duluth, Berkeley Lake, Johns Creek, Lawrenceville, Norcross, Peachtree Corners, Suwanee and Alpharetta. Monday’s ceremony marked the beginning of her two-year term in the Georgia Senate and the official beginning of the 2019 Georgia General Assembly.

“It was such an honor and pleasure to be surrounded by my family as I took an oath to serve the 48th district,” said Sen. Karinshak. “I am looking forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle as we push for legislation that suits all Georgians.”

A veteran of the United States Air Force, Sen. Karinshak is the recipient of numerous military awards. She has also served in several legal capacities including legal counsel to Governor Roy Barnes and as a federal prosecutor for the Northern District of Georgia.  Sen. Karinshak is currently a partner at the Atlanta law firm Krevolin & Horst.
