ATLANTA (June 6, 2023) | On May 17, Senator Sheikh Rahman (D – Lawrenceville) was appointed to serve as a member of the Conservation Corps Advisory Council by Lt. Governor Burt Jones. The Council will comprise of fifteen members, including six members of the Georgia General Assembly.
“I am deeply honored to be appointed to the Conservation Corps Advisory Council,” said Sen. Rahman. “This opportunity allows for me to contribute directly to preserving and sustaining our state’s natural resources. I look forward to collaborating with fellow council members who are dedicated and proven experts and leaders in environmental conservation. I am excited to leverage my legislative experience to develop innovative strategies that balance environmental protection and responsible development. I want to extend my thanks and gratitude to Lt. Governor Burt Jones for this appointment.”
The role of the Conservation Corps Advisory Council is to review, analyze and engage in discussions on the operations of the Conservation Corps and their mission to serve communities by helping to protect and sustainably manage natural resources. Moreover, the Council serves as an advisory body, providing guidance to the Conservation Corps and its director on various matters impacting the corps’ efficient functioning and achieving its overarching objectives.
