Senator John Albers Recognized as Living Kidney Donor at Atlanta Braves Baseball Game

ATLANTA (April 26, 2023) | Yesterday, Senator John Albers (R – Roswell) and his son Will Albers, were recognized as living kidney donor representatives at the inaugural Living Donor Awareness Game, hosted by the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. Sen. Albers and his son were also joined by Joe Isaksen and Paul Hailstone, their living donor representatives.

“It was such a special honor to be recognized alongside my son, Will, Joe Isaksen and Paul Hailstone as living kidney donor representatives at Truist Park last night,” said Sen. Albers. “Throughout my tenure with the Georgia State Senate, I have been a longtime advocate for organ donation. During the 2022 Legislative Session, I had the immense pleasure of championing Senate Bill 330, the “Giving the Gift of Life Act,” which prohibited insurance companies from canceling, modifying coverage, refusing to issue, or refusing to renew life insurance policies solely because the applicant or insured donated a liver or kidney.”

“After donating my own kidney to my son Will in 2021, I know firsthand how the process of organ donation can be very difficult and emotional but also extremely fulfilling,” said Sen. Albers. Because of this, it is absolutely necessary to ensure living donors and recipients are awarded with the best care both physically and financially. I want to thank the Atlanta Braves and Truist Park for taking the time to recognize how prudent organ donation is because without it, lives could not be saved. Additionally, I extend my gratitude to all Georgians and Braves fans who attended the game as their contributions for attending are benefiting the Georgia Transplant Foundation and the Living Liver Foundation. It was a pleasure to be joined by friends and family as we celebrated giving the gift of life at the inaugural Living Donor Awareness Game.”
