ATLANTA (September 11, 2019) | Sen. Dean Burke (R – Bainbridge) has been appointed by Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan to serve as a member of the Task Force on Healthcare Access and Cost. Last week, the task force held their first meeting which focused on data and technology innovations.
“I commend Lt. Governor Duncan for appointing this task force so we can tackle an issue that remains a top priority – expanding access to quality health care for all Georgians,” said Sen. Burke. “Our citizens around the state are experiencing increases in cost while also dealing with burdens to accessing health care. We must continue to look at ways we can increase the avenues our citizens have to get the care they need while keeping costs down. There is not a one-step solution to this issue and while I am encouraged by the progress we have made, the work cannot and will not stop. I believe we learned a lot of good information during the first meeting and I look forward to working with my colleagues on this task force to find new solutions we can propose during the upcoming session to expand access to quality and affordable health care across our great state.”
The Task Force on Healthcare Access and Cost, chaired by Lt. Governor Duncan, has 16 members who will “evaluate: 1) price transparency and other free market solutions; 2) data and technology utilization; and 3) employer innovation.”
There will be two more meetings – Wednesday, October 9th and Tuesday, November 5th – in room 450 in the State Capitol.
The meetings will be livestreamed and archived at the link below: http://www.senate.ga.gov/spo/en-US/videobroadcasts.aspx
