Senator Bruce Thompson Appointed to the Georgia World Congress Authority Overview Committee

ATLANTA (March 16, 2021) | This week, Sen. Bruce Thompson (R – White) was appointed by Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan to serve on the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) Authority Overview Committee.

“The Georgia World Congress Center is a major asset to Georgia’s economy, as it is a stimulus for tourism, development, commercial and residential growth, and aids in creating and sustaining jobs,” said Sen. Thompson. “I am so honored to be appointed to a legislative oversight committee that has the opportunity to bring economic prosperity to Georgia, and I look forward to working with other members on ways areas outside of Atlanta can benefit from events held at the Georgia World Congress Center.”

The GWCC Authority was created in 1971 by the Georgia General Assembly to serve as the body that oversees the Georgia World Congress Center, Centennial Olympic Park and Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Authority is involved in decision-making that brings international trade events and exhibitions to Georgia. The Georgia World Congress Center is the third largest convention center in the United States.
