Senate Study Committee on the Creation of a Georgia Cybersecurity Force Holds First Meeting

ATLANTA (September 14, 2022) | Yesterday, the Senate Study Committee on the Creation of a Georgia Cybersecurity Force, chaired by Sen. Jason Anavitarte (R – Dallas), held its first meeting in the Dalney Street Research Building on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology.

“Yesterday’s meeting was an important first step towards uncovering a few of the challenges and opportunities facing Georgia as it relates to our cyber security,” said Sen. Anavitarte. “Throughout the testimony provided, it became abundantly clear that cyber-crime presents a threat that will require a multifaceted solution. In future meetings, I look forward to hearing more about what more we can do as a state to aggressively fight cyber-crime, secure Georgia’s digital assets, and grow the field of cyber security in our state.”

The Senate Study Committee on the Creation of a Georgia Cybersecurity Force was created through the adoption of Senate Resolution 741, adopted during the 2022 Legislative Session. You can read the full text of the resolution here: https://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/62908
