ATLANTA (July 20, 2023) | This week, Senator Valencia Seay (D – Riverdale) presented The King Center with a framed photo collage capturing the day Mrs. Coretta Scott King lay in state at the Georgia State Capitol. The collage also includes a photo of Senator Seay and her colleagues as they stood on the 3rd-floor balcony, looking down in a state of mourning over the loss of Mrs. King.
“Coretta Scott King’s impact on the civil rights movement holds immeasurable significance,” said Sen. Seay. “She was a remarkable woman who played an instrumental role in shaping the civil rights movement. It is an honor to donate this photo collage to The King Center, a place that stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration for future generations. The images donated encapsulate the emotions of that solemn day as my colleagues, former colleagues and friends united to honor the legacy of the esteemed Coretta Scott King. We must never forget the sacrifices made and the progress achieved by those who fought for justice and equality.”
