Sen. Tyler Harper Attends National Security Seminar at U.S. Army War College

ATLANTA (June 27, 2018) |  Sen. Tyler Harper (R – Ocilla) was recently selected to attend the 64th annual National Security Seminar (NSS) at the U.S. War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania from June 1st through June 7th.

“It is always an honor and a privilege to be among many of the current and future leaders of our nation’s military,” said Sen. Harper. “NSS provides the opportunity for lawmakers, the business community and leaders in our armed forces to come together to discuss many of the important, urgent security issues that our nation faces. The speakers, students, and other attendees all left a lasting impression and will have an impact on how I address security policy decisions at the state Capitol going forward. I want to thank the superb faculty and staff of the U.S. Army War College for putting this event together every year to give individuals like myself an opportunity to interact with our military leaders and have a better understanding of our nation’s security interests.”

Sen. Harper was one of 160 representatives from various backgrounds including business, government, and academia selected from across the country to participate in this year’s NSS. The NSS is composed of daily seminars, followed by discussions with U.S. military students, representatives from the federal government, and international officers in the student body. Speakers at this year’s NSS included Ambassador Kristie Kenney, David Sanger, Chief Washington Correspondent for the New York Times, Admiral Kurt W. Tidd, Commander of the United States Southern Command, and Ambassador Ron Kirk, former U.S. Trade Representative.
