Sen. Tonya Anderson Issues Statement by the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus on National Voter Registration Day

ATLANTA (September 28, 2021) | In response to September 28 being National Voter Registration Day, the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC) Chairwoman State Senator Tonya P. Anderson  (D – Lithonia) issues the following statement:

“The Georgia Legislative Black Caucus encourages all eligible citizens to register to vote, check your registration status, or update your information. In 2020 and 2021 we witnessed firsthand how exercising our Constitutional right can transform our country.

You waited in lines, attended rallies, volunteered your time, and encouraged others to stand up for democracy. Remember, when we vote democracy wins.

Today we celebrate our power as citizens to determine who should represent us at all levels of government. Today we recognize the many men and women who fought, were jailed, and died so we can fully participate in this great experiment.

If you just turned 18, then please register to vote. If you just moved into our state, please register to vote. If you realize you can make a difference, please register to vote.

Celebrate your power and exercise your right.”

Established in 1975, the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus is a 501(c)3 non-profit, nonpartisan organization comprising of 68 Georgia House and Senate members.
