ATLANTA (February 24, 2012) – Sen. Jesse Stone (R-Waynesboro) and Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle welcomed Pastor Randy Byrd to serve as the Chaplain of the Day on February 23, 2012, in the State Senate.
“It was an honor to host Pastor Byrd in the Senate Chamber today,” said Sen. Stone. “His devotional was an inspiration to all those in attendance and reminded us that with our faith, we can accomplish anything.”
“It was an honor to welcome Pastor Byrd to the Senate today. The tradition of the Senate to begin each day with a devotional and prayer allows us to set our mind and heart in the right direction as we make important policy decisions. As we face daunting challenges during this session, I’m confident that the Senate will answer the call to serve. Today, Pastor Byrd encouraged Senators and inspired each of us to lead our state in the right direction,” Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle said.
Byrd is the pastor of Bible Fellowship Church in Martinez. He is actively involved in the music ministry and has been playing music with his family since he was 7 years old. The Byrd’s have traveled around America singing the gospel to numerous churches for years. His wife, Mary Byrd, who is also a pastor, joined him in the Chamber along with their daughter, Jen and granddaughter, Lily.
