Sen. Nan Orrock Urges Changes to HomeSafe Georgia Program to Help Foreclosed Families

ATLANTA (March 21, 2013) – Sen. Nan Orrock (D-Atlanta) took the well today highlighting the need for better administration of HomeSafe Georgia, a critical program to bridge families who are between jobs and other circumstances to remain in their homes.

Georgia received $339.3 million in federal dollars from the Hardest Hit Funds to assist families faced with losing their homes because of unemployment or other causes.  The Department of Community Affairs oversees HomeSafe Georgia program to distribute these funds, but since receiving them, they have distributed only 6 percent to provide borrower assistance as of the end of 2012.
