Sen. Nan Orrock Inducted into International Civil Rights Walk of Fame

ATLANTA (January 22, 2018) | Sen. Nan Orrock (D – Atlanta) was recently inducted to the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame. The International Civil Rights Walk of Fame was created in 2004 with the purpose of recognizing those who sacrificed and fought to make equality a reality for all.

“I am truly honored to receive this recognition of my work,” said Sen. Orrock. “It is humbling to join the ranks of some of America’s truly great change-makers.”

Sen. Orrock is part of this year’s class for the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame. Sen. Orrock joins the ranks of many civil rights activists including Congressman John Lewis, Ambassador Andrew Young, Justice Thurgood Marshall, former President Jimmy Carter, former Atlanta Mayor Ivan Allen, Jr. and others.

Sen. Orrock’s involvement within the Civil Rights Movement dates back when she joined the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Sen. Orrock served 10 terms in the Georgia House of Representatives before being elected to the state Senate in 2007.

The International Civil Rights Walk of Fame is currently located at the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site in Atlanta. Xernona Clayton, Founder of the Trumpet Awards Foundation, announced to the recipients that the Walk of Fame will be installed this year near the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
