Sen. Mullis Receives Georgia Historical Society Presidential Citation

RINGGOLD (November 7, 2017)   | Senator Jeff Mullis (R – Chickamauga) received the Georgia Historical Society (GHS) Presidential Citation earlier today. GHS President Dr. W. Todd Groce presented Sen. Mullis with this honor for his distinguished leadership in the General Assembly and support of the study and teaching of Georgia history. Also in attendance was GHS Board Chairman Vince Dooley.

“It is an honor to be recognized with such a distinguished group of leaders and citizens in Georgia,” said Sen. Mullis. “I will continue to work hard with my colleagues to promote history-related projects and to advocate for history education in schools all around the state. Thank you again for this tremendous honor.”

“There has been no greater champion of history in the General Assembly than Sen. Jeff Mullis,” said Dr. W. Todd Groce, President and CEO of the Georgia Historical Society. “Because of his leadership, history-related projects continue to be a priority in Georgia. Not only does he support history education in our schools, but he appreciates the important role that heritage tourism plays in boosting the economy of communities across this state. He is richly-deserving of this recognition.”

The GHS Presidential Citation is an award presented periodically by the chief executive of the Georgia Historical Society to recognize individuals and organizations that through their words and actions have rendered meritorious service on behalf of the field and cause of history. This is only the second time in the history of GHS that the Presidential Citation has been awarded to a political leader. The only other was presented about 12 years ago to another great advocate for history, Sen. Jack Hill (R – Reidsville).
