ATLANTA (April 14, 2014) | Sen. Mike Dugan (R- Carrollton) announced today that he will pre-file legislation for the 2015 legislative session to name the Georgia I-85 –Ga. 400 interchange in memory of Captain Herb Emory.
“Herb Emory was a longtime Douglas County resident who always put others before himself,” said Sen. Dugan. “Not only was he a trusted voice for Georgians on the roads, but a highly respected and philanthropic citizen of Douglas County. He dedicated countless hours to organizations such as the Douglas Boys and Girls Club, Toys for Tots and the Douglas County Humane Society through his devotion and advocacy. By renaming the I-85 and Georgia 400 interchange in his honor, his legacy will be remembered by those he safely guided home each day. My prayers remain with his family, friends and colleagues; he will be missed by all.”
Emory worked as the WSB traffic reporter for 22 years and was inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame in 2008. He passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the age of 61.
