Sen. Mike Dugan Appointed to Governor’s Dual Enrollment Task Force

ATLANTA (July 7, 2014) | Sen. Mike Dugan was recently appointed to serve on the Governor Nathan Deal’s Dual Enrollment Task Force.

“I am honored to be selected to serve on this task force,” said Sen. Dugan.  “These programs are vital in keeping our students engaged in their studies, continuing to improve our graduation rates, and providing businesses with a skilled and educated workforce that has advanced experience.  I look forward to working with my colleagues to create long lasting solutions for our dual enrollment program throughout the state.”

The Dual Enrollment Task Force was created to streamline the current statewide dual enrollment programs.  Chairman Kelly Henson, Executive Secretary of the Professional Standards Commission, along with members of the alliance of education agency heads, will lead this task force to encourage more students to participate in the dual enrollment program, earn their high school diplomas and become post secondary graduates.

Dual enrollment programs provide high school students, primarily in the 11th and 12th grade, the opportunity to take one or more college-level courses from a public or private post secondary institution in the state.
