ATLANTA (October 26, 2016) | Sen. Michael Rhett (D – Marietta) attended the first Promenade on the Pond event on Saturday, October 22. The square dancing event was the first of its kind for Wildlife Action Georgia and helped raise over $4,000 in funds to go towards education initiatives for the group.
“The Promenade on the Pond was a unique event organized by a group of individuals who care so much about our state’s natural resources and wildlife habitats,” said Sen. Rhett. “I had a great time and was happy to have the opportunity to announce the raffle winners.”
“We are thrilled that Sen. Rhett attended Promenade on the Pond,” said Lonnie Thomas, member of Georgia Wildlife Action. “We are pleased that he was able to help us draw attention to a worthy organization like Wildlife Action Georgia, as well as our state folk dance, square dancing. We’re looking forward to the 2019 National Square Dance Convention being held in Cobb County Georgia and hope Sen. Rhett will be in attendance.”
The square dancing event was organized to raise money and awareness for Wildlife Action Georgia, an organization that works to raise public awareness of diminishing wildlife habitats, to promote the wise use of our natural resources and to educate both the sportsman and non-hunter about the delicate state of Georgia’s natural resources. There were over 150 people in attendance at the event.
