ATLANTA (January 16, 2020) | Sen. Lee Anderson (R – Grovetown) was recently appointed to serve as the Chairman of the Senate State and Local Governmental Operations Committee by Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan.

Anderson. “Georgia has 159 counties and close to 100 cities, which leaves an enormous potential for cooperation between these local governments and the state of Georgia. I want to thank Lt. Governor Duncan for his trust in me and I look forward to working with my fellow committee members and stakeholders across the state to pass meaningful legislation that makes a positive difference in the lives of all Georgians.”

In addition to serving as Chairman of the State and Local Governmental Operations Committee, Sen. Anderson also serves as the Vice-Chair of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee, the Secretary of the Science and Technology Committee, and a member on the Economic Development and Tourism Committee and the Public Safety Committee.
The State and Local Governmental Operations Committee has jurisdiction “over general laws that relate to special taxes, city and county organization” and is in charge of reviewing legislation that may apply to counties and cities throughout Georgia.
