Today, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle appointed Senator Larry Walker to serve as the newest member of Georgia’s Health Care Reform Task Force.
In January 2017, Lt. Governor Cagle created the Task Force with Senate leadership as a first step to develop a state-wide effort to slow the rising cost of health care, improve access to medical services, and provide consumers with better choices. Four simple principles guide the Task Force: patients first, patient driven, patient access, and patient specific.
Senator Larry Walker, founder and owner of Walker Insurance Agency, said: “Georgians are struggling to afford health insurance they can use. Because of my first-hand experience helping individuals and families get the coverage that best fits their needs, I’m optimistic I can make valuable contributions to the Task Force as we work to find solutions that enable Georgians to obtain affordable, quality health insurance.”
“Georgia’s health care system demands reform. Statewide, costs are too high while access to care and choices for care are too limited,” said Lt. Governor Cagle. “Georgia is ready to advance a bold vision for health care reform that lowers costs, increases access to care, and strengthens the patient-doctor relationship. Utilizing his extensive experience, Senator Walker will help lead the way to a better system for patients and families in Middle Georgia and statewide.”
