ATLANTA (June 21, 2023) | Yesterday, Governor Brian P. Kemp announced that he has appointed Majority Caucus Secretary Senator Larry Walker III (R – Perry) to serve as a member of the OneGeorgia Authority Overview Committee, part of his latest batch of appointments to state boards and authorities.
“The funding allocated by the OneGeorgia Authority is vital to rural communities across the state of Georgia, including those in the 20th district,” said Sen. Walker. “On the OneGeorgia Authority Overview Committee, I will have the opportunity to ensure that rural communities like ours have access to the funding they need to invest in significant development projects. Often, smaller communities need financial assistance to jumpstart economic development with infrastructure improvements and to incentivize business relocation efforts. The grants and loans awarded through OneGeorgia Authority are crucial to ensuring that our rural residents live in a sustainable and diversified economy with ample opportunity for all. I am grateful to Governor Kemp for entrusting me with this responsibility and giving me the opportunity to help invigorate our rural communities.”
The OneGeorgia Authority operates under the Georgia Department of Community Affairs with the singular mission to bring economic vitality to rural Georgia. Local governments, local-government authorities, joint or multi-county development authorities, lending institutions and airport authorities can apply for financial assistance through the OneGeorgia Authority. Specific initiatives of the OneGeorgia Authority include: the Rural Innovation Fund, which assists with the development of employment opportunities; the Equity Fund, which assists rural communities with infrastructure development; the EDGE Fund, which assists with incentivizing businesses to move to Georgia; and the Rural Workforce housing Initiative, which promotes activities that lead to workforce housing development.
