Sen. Kay Kirkpatrick Attends Joint Defense Commission Meeting in Warner Robins

ATLANTA (July 20, 2021) | Last week, Sen. Kay Kirkpatrick (R – Marietta) joined fellow members of the Georgia Joint Defense Commission for a meeting at the Nugteren Hanger within the Museum of Aviation at Robins Air Force Base. In attendance were representatives from the state’s Air Force commands and installations, who served as panelists to facilitate discussions on current issues and priorities.

“The Joint Defense Commission is just one reflection of the state’s longstanding commitment to supporting our military communities and I am honored to take part in such important dialogues,” said Sen. Kirkpatrick. “Georgia’s military scope is expansive, with a remarkable number of servicemen, women and veterans, along with bases that represent nearly every branch of the armed services. In supporting the continued development of Georgia’s defense installations, we must take a look at the legislative side and understand the areas that are effective and what needs to be addressed. As we continue our work around the state, I am eager to hear from other representatives on the future of our defense.”

The Georgia Joint Defense Commission was first created in 2018 through the passage of Senate Bill 395, and is composed of members of the General Assembly and both civilian and military leaders. The intent of the Commission is to evaluate defense and military issues, and provide recommendations that support the development of these installations.
