Sen. John Albers Presents River Eves Elementary with Resolution

River Eves ESATLANTA (December 3, 2015) | Sen. John Albers (R – Roswell) presented River Eves Elementary School on Monday with a resolution for being the first school in the Fulton County School District to achieve the Georgia Department of Education’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) certification.

“The STEM program at River Eves Elementary School provides students with the opportunity to expand their learning horizons and gain experience in career fields that are relevant in today’s workplace,” said Sen. Albers. “With technology fast becoming a critical part of almost every job, this certification will allow all students to build a solid foundation for their future, and I am honored to have been able to present this school with such a prestigious certification.”

STEM education integrates curriculum driven by problem solving, discovery, exploration and student-centered development of ideas and solutions. River Eves Elementary participated in a rigorous three-year application process which included classroom observation, integration of high-level math and science instruction, interviews with students, teachers and parents and documentation of support from active and relevant partners.

River Eves is the twelfth elementary school in Georgia to become STEM certified.
