Sen. John Albers Issues Winter Storm Response: Getting It Right

ATLANTA (February 13, 2014)  |  Sen. John Albers ( R – Roswell) has released the following statement entitled, “Getting It Right,” in response to the winter storm that affected metro Atlanta and the surrounding areas:

“A couple of weeks ago, a snow storm battered several southern states including Georgia.  There was much blame to pass around from individuals, government, schools, businesses, etc.   Often we judge others by their actions and ourselves by our intentions. Anybody can be a Monday morning quarterback and criticize. Real leaders take responsibility, adjust, prepare and plan for a better future.

“This week everyone got it right. Schools were cancelled early and over communicated with parents.  Cities and counties prepared public safety personnel, sent our clear communications and cleared roads. People exercised personal responsibility staying home and off the roads while power companies continue to work tirelessly to keep the lights on. Governor Nathan Deal was exceptional with his leadership, management, communication and tireless efforts to protect Georgians.  I want to personally thank everyone for their hard work and dedication.

“Critics often focus on the negative and forget to acknowledge the positive. In Georgia, we have so much to be positive about and celebrate.   One of my most favorite movie scenes is from Rocky Balboa, when Rocky said these words to his son: “The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows.  It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.  You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life.  But it ain’t about how hard you’re hit.  It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.  How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!”

“Everyone got it right this time and Georgia is prospering, thank you and may God Bless You.”
