ATLANTA, GA (March 28, 2013) – On Monday, Senator Donzella James (D- Atlanta) hosted District 35 Day at the State Capitol. She was joined by various mayors, county commissioners, and numerous distinguished citizens from the 35th Senatorial District.
“It was an honor to be joined by so many upstanding citizens who call the 35th District home,” said Sen. James. “The different communities that make up our district are diverse and culturally rich, much like the rest of this great state. It is always a pleasure to spend time with my constituents and celebrate their tremendous successes under the Gold Dome.”
District 35 Day was highlighted by an invocation by Dr. Tonya Brown and a special program to honor the various elected officials who were on hand to take part in this yearly celebration. Participants were also greeted by Governor Nathan Deal and given tours of the Senate and House of Representatives Chambers. Sen. James is already looking forward to welcoming the 35th District back to the Capitol next year.
“This yearly tradition is a great time for citizens of the 35th to watch their state government in action,” said Sen. James. “I hope anyone interested in the democratic process will join us next year to take part in this special day.”
