Sen. Jack Hill Welcomes Houston Astros Josh Reddick

ATLANTA  (January 24, 2018) | Sen. Jack Hill (R – Reidsville) welcomed Houston Astros outfielder Josh Reddick to the Georgia Senate, in recognition for his team’s 2017 World Series victory, on Monday, January 22, 2018.

“I am delighted that Josh was able to travel to Atlanta to be honored for his athletic achievements and for his commitment to bettering his local community,” said Sen. Hill. “Josh isn’t just an outstanding major league baseball player with remarkable stats, he is a homegrown hero for the people of Effingham County and Georgia. He is an ideal role model who never forgot where he came from. We are proud to claim Josh and we are so glad he still claims us.”

Josh Reddick was selected in the 17th round of the 2006 MLB draft. In 2016, the Houston Astros signed Reddick to a four-year deal. This past year, Reddick helped lead his team to the American League pennant and victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.

In February 2014, Reddick created and established the Josh Reddick Foundation, with a mission to advocate for the youth and those in need in Reddick’s home community, Effingham County. Reddick and his foundation recently gave $1 million to the Effingham Recreation Department to fund a handicap accessible field as a part of the new sports complex in the community.
