ATLANTA (October 16, 2015) | Sen. Greg Kirk (R- Americus) will attend the third meeting of the Senate Women’s Adequate Healthcare Study Committee, Chaired by Sen. Renee Unterman (R- Buford), on Monday, October 26, 2015, at 9 a.m. at the Tift Regional Health System in Tifton, GA.
“Being a part of this committee has been an eye-opening experience for me,” said Sen. Kirk. “We have heard from industry professionals from throughout the state about the current state of healthcare in Georgia, and I am excited that advocates from South Georgia will also have an opportunity to share their thoughts with us.”
This meeting will focus on testimony from industry specialists regarding recent obstetrical unit closures, practicing obstetrical healthcare and the use of telemedicine in rural Georgia. The Senate Women’s Adequate Healthcare Study Committee is currently traveling across the state looking at the current condition of women’s healthcare in Georgia, the current areas with existing deficits and the areas with no obstetrical care. The committee must report its findings on or before December 1, 2015.
