Sen. Greg Kirk Appointed to Women’s Adequate Healthcare Senate Study Committee

ATLANTA (July 13, 2015)  |  Sen. Greg Kirk (R- Americus) has been selected by Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle to serve on the Women’s Adequate Healthcare Senate Study Committee.

“We have seen an increase in inadequate healthcare coverage for women in Georgia,” said Sen. Kirk. “I am honored to have been appointed to this committee and look forward to traveling across the state to hear from stakeholders and healthcare professionals about the needs and solutions to this problem.”

“I’m proud to appoint Sen. Kirk to the Women’s Adequate Healthcare Senate Study Committee and look forward to thoroughly evaluating their findings,” said Lt.Gov. Cagle. “Sen. Kirk has been a leader on these issues, and I’m thankful he’s lending his time and expertise to the important work this committee will perform.”

The Women’s Adequate Healthcare Senate Study Committee was created by the passage of Senate Resolution 4 during the 2015 legislative session. The committee was created by the passage of Senate Resolution 560 during the 2015 legislative session. As stated in the resolution, the committee shall be comprised of four members of the Senate. The Senate Women’s Adequate Healthcare Study Committee will look at the current condition of women’s healthcare in Georgia, the current areas with existing deficits and the areas with no obstetrical care. The committee must report its findings on or before December 1, 2015.
