ATLANTA (September 4, 2018) | Sen. Gloria Butler (D – Stone Mountain), along with Marsy’s Law for Georgia, will host a community resource fair on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on resources that can help victims of crimes.
SB 127 and SR 146, collectively known as Marsy’s Law, would provide victims with the right to request the court dates and release dates of the criminal, to be made aware of any rulings in the case and the right to be included or excluded from criminal proceedings. In addition, victims will be given the standing to seek a judicial remedy if their rights are not carried out. If ratified by voters in General Election in November of this year, Marsy’s Law will become effective on January 1, 2019.
