ATLANTA (August 14, 2020) | Recently, Sen. Freddie Powell Sims (D – Dawson) was one of six total members appointed by Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan to serve on the Senate Study Committee on Music Workforce Development.
“I am thankful to serve alongside my peers on an issue that will help revolutionize Georgia’s music industry and by extension, the state’s economy as a whole,” said Sen. Sims. “Georgia’s investment in the world of music has served as a catalyst for creative growth, technological innovation and cultural expansion; however, we must also understand where our deficiencies lie in order to strengthen local artists and businesses, alike. I look forward to working with my colleagues to best understand the state’s developing infrastructure and how we can continue to promote it.”
The other Senate members appointed to serve on the committee are as follows:
Sen. Jeff Mullis, Chairman (R – Chickamauga)
Sen. Butch Miller (R – Gainesville)
Sen. Bill Cowsert (R – Athens)
Sen. David Lucas (D – Macon)
Sen. Tyler Harper (R – Ocilla)
The Senate Study Committee on Music Workforce Development was established through Senate Resolution 470, which can be viewed here: http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/en-US/display/20192020/SR/470.
