Sen. Freddie Powell-Sims and Senate Leaders Embark on Tour of Southwest Georgia

ATLANTA (September 22, 2023) | Yesterday, Senator Freddie Powell-Sims (D – Dawson) was joined by Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones, Senate President Pro Tempore John F. Kennedy (R – Macon) and Senator Matt Brass (R – Newnan) on a community tour of Albany, Georgia. This trip provided an interactive platform for legislators to connect with residents of Southwest Georgia at various stops across the region. Meetings took place with local citizens, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, educators and regional elected officials to further understand specific challenges that the community faces.

“I was honored to welcome Lt. Governor Jones, Sen. Kennedy and Sen. Brass to Southwest Georgia,” said Sen. Powell-Sims. “This tour provided my Senate colleagues and me with a firsthand understanding of the unique challenges our rural communities face. It was an invaluable opportunity for us to actively engage in discussions that will greatly influence the future of our community. It fills me with pride to see the pivotal role that Southwest Georgia plays in the higher education and healthcare sectors.”
