ATLANTA (October 1, 2013) – Sen. Vincent Fort (D-Atlanta) issues the following statement on his Freedom of Information request to Atlanta Public Schools:
“It is imperative in the interest of transparency and openness in government that Atlanta Public Schools release the name of the financier of the search for a new superintendent now being conducted. The public has the right to know who is giving the money and if that individual or organization has any potential conflicts of interest.
This is the type of behavior that tainted the Criterion-Referenced Competency Test investigation. The people who financed the Blue Ribbon Commission investigation had an interest in covering-up the wrongdoing.
We the people – children, parents and citizens of Atlanta – deserve better.”
